K’si Records First IVF Quadruplets

HISTORY WAS made in Kumasi on Friday when the first ever quadruplets conceived through In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) were delivered.

A 42-year-old woman, who has never conceived after 14 years of marriage, is the lucky woman who delivered the quadruplets.

The historic feat which has boosted the medical profession in the region was recorded at the IVF centre at Trustcare Specialist Hospital and Fertility Centre.

When DAILY GUIDE visited the hospital, the 42-year-old woman and her family members were showering praises to God.

The elated people were also commending the staff of Trustcare for their professionalism and good job done.

Speaking with the paper, Isaac Kofi Adu, Clinical Embryologist at the hospital, said this was the first time the centre had chalked such a great feat.

He said Trustcare is the first assisted reproductive technology centre outside Accra and Tema, noting that the centre had delivered several multiple pregnancies.

Mr Adu could not contain his joy over the delivery of the quadruplets via IVF at the hospital.

He thanked God for granting the centre a high IVF success rate, commending the consultants at the centre for their good work.

In order to make IVF treatment affordable for the populace, he said the centre was putting in place pragmatic policies and programmes.

Mr. Adu announced that Trustcare was currently collaborating with the Association of Childless Couples of Ghana.

He said his outfit was also collaborating with the Walking Egg Organization in Belgium, aimed at bringing low cost technology but effective IVF services to Ghana.
