House Reviews Ga Mantse Ruling

The ruling was reported to have generated lot of controversy.

The deaths of some key witnesses and King Nii Tackie Tawiah III, also known in private life as Dr. Joe Blankson necessitated the review of the case.

An interested party in the case was said to have filed a motion for the case to be reviewed by the Judicial Committee.

Speaking at an emergency meeting held at Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs in Dodowa to discuss the matter which has lasted for over seven years, Dr Henry Seidu Danaa, Minister in charge of Chieftaincy and Culture, mentioned that his aim is to ensure the resolution of all chieftaincy disputes in the country.

He appealed to the august house to look at the matter again in the interest of the state, noting that ‘Government cannot determine who is a chief but government has the interest to ensure those who have the answer to a question do so accordingly.

‘The doors to my Ministry are opened, all chiefs who have problems in connection with the matter can knock at my door and I will listen but before you come to my office as a chief think twice and check yourself since some self acclaimed chiefs are trying to destroy the country, which is governed by law.’

He noted one of the objectives of the government is to assist the chieftaincy institution to ensure peace in the country for a conducive atmosphere, which would ensure development and boost economic activities in those areas.

He thanked the Regional House of Chiefs for helping to resolve most chieftaincy disputes in the country, calling for immediate steps to resolve chieftaincy dispute in the Ga Traditional Area.

Nene Abraham Akuaku III, President of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, reiterated the support of his outfit for the Minister, noting that the Committee would immediately begin the review process to promote peace in the Ga Traditional Area.
