Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Asadu Royal Waste, Edward Asadu, has appealed to Government and Accra Metropolitan Authority (AMA) to provide a permanent landfill site.
In an interview with BUSINESS GUIDE over the weekend, Mr Asadu said his truck drivers were unable to discharge the waste materials at their regular landfills because the sites had no capacity to receive any more waste material.
He stressed that the government, the Accra Metropolitan Authority (AMA) and other stakeholders in the waste management industry need to act promptly and find a permanent engineering landfill site that could last beyond 10 years.
Mr. Assadu noted that the situation could lead to the various waste problems.
The CEO stated that the onset of the rains could worsen the situation in the city, noting that air pollution could lead to the outbreak of diseases.
