Koforidua, April 28, GNA – Nsukwao, a suburb of Koforidua has been crowned champions of the first ever Inter Community Member of Parliament (MP) Soccer Tournament played at the Methodist School Park in Koforidua.

The six-week tournament  involved 16 teams from the various communities in the New Juaben Municipality within the New Juaben South Constituency ended at the weekend  with Nsukwao beating Betom 1-0 in the finals.

Isaac Oteng scored the only goal in the 23rd minute through a header.

Nsukwao were reduced to ten men in the 70th minute when Vincent Agbeko received a second yellow card.

Nsukwao took home a trophy and a cash price of  500 cedis whilst Betom received  a 100  cedis cash price.

The man of the match for the finals went to Nsukwaos goalkeeper and Captain Isaac Asare.

         
Dr Mark Assibey Yeboah, Member of Parliament (MP) for New Juaben South who sponsored the tournament to promote unity expressed  excitement about turn out.

He promised to sponsor the tournament annually and urge all national team coaches in the country to turn their eyes to the regions and scout for players for the country.
