8 Killed At Gomoa Potsin

Eight people, including six adults and two children, on Friday, met their untimely death at Gomoa Potsin in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region when a Kia Mercedes Benz with registration number GW8594-12 and a sprinter bus with registration number GW7252-14 were involved in an accident in the area.

The bodies – which included both drivers – have been deposited at the morgue of the Winneba Government Hospital for autopsy.

Nine of the injured persons – four female and fives males – have been admitted at the Winneba Government Hospital and the Truma Specialist Hospital for treatment.

Briefing DAILY GUIDE, the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) Commander of the Ghana Police Service at Winneba, ASP John Paul Akonde, said the accident happened around 9:20 pm.

ASP Akonde stated that the Kia car loaded with fish was travelling from Tema to Winneba with eight people on board, while the sprinter was from Cape Coast direction heading towards Accra.

He hinted that the victims have been giving conflicting statements on the cause of the accident.

The police boss added that their investigation revealed that one of the drivers might have overtaken and in the process resulted in the accident.

ASP Akonde further said investigations were ongoing.
