I Have Spoken To Late Prez Mills And He Approves… Koku Anyidoho

“If the call is so strong and I must do it, I will do it and I will support our General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia who has done a strong job, I will support Yaw Boateng Gyan who has been a strong organizer and I will work for my party.

When the time comes and the decision is taken, I will never turn my back against my party. There is a strong call and I am considering it…”

These were comments expressed by Former Communication Director at the Presidency under former President John Evans Atta Mills, Koku Anyidoho.

A group calling itself; Global Network for Bare Fact, a pro-NDC group, headquartered in Koforidua, Eastern Region, has launched a campaign to urge the one-time close confidant of former President Mills, to contest for the position of the Deputy General Secretary position in the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), when the time comes.

The group described him as “a very selfless person who is prepared to give you the last penny he has in his pocket. Since 2001, Koku has been a great pillar of our great party; if his crime is that he was loyal to the NDC and President Mills; we the grassroots will show our appreciation and loyalty to Koku Anyidoho”.

Koku Anyidoho said on Citi FM Thursday that the ‘move’ urging him to contest for the position which is currently being occupied by Mr. George Lawson is so strong that he cannot refuse.

“The move is strong and there is no way I will turn my back against my party. There is a strong move for me to contest but I have to make some consultations and speak to godfathers of the party. I will never turn my back on the party; what they want me to do is what I will do. I am not going to disrespect the call of my people…

…I am NDC and nothing will change my political position and with the confusion that is going on in the NPP, we cannot allow insurgence to want to rule this country. I will support my party; head and tail and nothing will stop me from supporting my party. If it is the wish of the people for me to be the Deputy General Secretary of the party, I will do it with my body, soul and spirit”

He also disclosed that late President Atta Mills had already approved of his intention to respond to the call and so when the time comes, “I will respond to my party’s call”

“I have spoken to President Mills…he has given me his go-ahead. I will work for my party and we will work hard for the NDC to retain power…God willing I will become the Deputy General Secretary of the great National Democratic Congress (NDC).

When asked where he met the former President, he said: “Asomdwee Park. That is where he is. I speak to him every day. He was my political mentor and I will never deny him. He gave me the opportunity to serve my country at the highest level and I am not shy of it. I respect him, I speak to him at the Asomdwee Park. If you go there and you intend to speak to him, you will find his voice. I find his voice every day… May his soul rest in perfect peace.”
