NPP MP, Ejura MCE Lock Horns Over Ejura Market

There was a scuffle this afternoon between the Member of Parliament for Ejura Honourable Mohammed Sualisu Bamba, and the Municipal Chief Executive- Hon. Muhammad Braimah Bawah of Ejura over who owns the right and duty to fix a choked mini market in the township.

Around 9am when the MP and his entourage including the NPP Chairman, Mr. Abagna, were in the market to cut a sod for repairs work to commence, a delegation from the MCE sent an order to “stop the work” with immediate effect.

This sparked a little confusion between the two honourable men and their supporters.

The MCE, explained, “the market is for the Assembly and we are not in the jungle where anyone could just stand up and start throw out market women, the right thing must be done”

He continued, “the law will take its course if they refuse to stop.”

However, Mr. Abagna riposte that the MCE has no right over any land in the area and that only the chiefs are the custodians.

“The land belongs to ‘Sarkhi Zongo’ (chief of Zongo) and we have his backing, so what’s the MCE talking about?” he charged, adding “we are not stopping the work and he can only talk, there is nothing he can do”

The mini market is located in the north of the community according to source is the oldest market in the municipal and has been in its deplorable state till now when the MP has decided to fixed it.

Some political analysts described the showdown as “attempts to scoring political points”
