Hearts of Oak bounce back for Champions League slot

A second half penalty by Robin Gnagne ensured that Hearts of Oak stayed level in the race for the more realistic second Champions League slot.

The Phobians defeated Bechem United 2-1 at the Accra Stadium and remain 10 point behind leaders, Kotoko with four games to go.

Emmanuel Hayford put Mohammed Polo’s side in front after two minutes to the roar of the home fans.

Hearts of Oak are now level on points with second-placed Heart of Lions as either side push for qualification to lucrative African Champions League competition.

At the Gyamfi Park, Stephen Manu’s 10th goal from the spot handed New Edubiase a 1-0 victory Hasaacas. The win lifts Edubiase to sixth on the log but three points ahead of the relegation zone.
