President Mahama to set up Pilgrims Affairs Secretariat

The Board Chairman of the National Hajj Board, Alhaji Rauf Tanko says President John Dramani Mahama has set up a Committee to draft legislation for the setting up of a Pilgrims’ Affairs Secretariat.

The Secretariat, according to Alhaji Tanko ,will oversee the annual lifting of all pilgrims to the Holy City of Mecca.

According to Rauf Tanko, the draft legislation will be sent to Parliament for approval if completed.

“The President has taken a decision. He has nominated some people to sit down and draft a legislation that will be forwarded to Parliament for approval so that we will have a Pilgrims’ Affairs Secretariat and once it is passed into law, we will have a permanent pilgrims Commission,” he explained.
