Leti Arts nominated for 2014 MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA)

Leti Arts has been nominated in the non-music category i the upcoming MTV Africa Music Awards. The recognition comes on the heels of the company’s strides in digitizing the stories of African legends in a bid to immortalize African heroes and heroines through technology.

Leti Arts competes in the Transform Today category with Anisa Mpungwe (Tanzania), Clarence Peters (Nigeria), I See a Different You (South Africa) and Rasty (South Africa).

Transform Today by Absolut, is an award designed to recognize and support young, emerging and original African creative talents who use their imagination to fuel social transformation and bring positive attention to the continent. 

CEO of Leti Arts, Eyram Akofa Tawia says the nomination is humbling. According to him, the nomination would spur his team on to do more to leverage local talent and technology to catapult Africa beyond the western world.

Leti Arts develops cross-platform interactive media products based on African history and folklore, including digital comics and mobile games. As one of a handful of interactive media studios in sub-Saharan Africa, Leti introduces global audiences to African storytelling.

One of the main projects the outfit has been working on, and has made available for free download is the True Ananse Series.

The True Ananse series is the first installment in the African Legends initiative from Leti Games, based on Kweku Ananse, a folklore favorite from West Africa. The initiative involves a series of interactive games and comics that present stories of recognized Historical African heroes. It brings them into the 21st century through compelling high quality graphics that communicate the true ambience of African culture.

Leti Arts joins the Ghanaian contingent of Sarkodie, Efya, R2Bees and Fuse ODG who have all been nominated this year.
