Atimpoku traffic worsens as Easter festivities set in

Hundreds of people traveling to the Volta Region for this year’s Easter celebrations have been subjected to heavy traffic at Atimpoku as a result of repair works on the Adomi Bridge.

Since the repair works commenced on the bridge early this year, the Highway Authority, the Ministry of Transport and other related agencies have provided an alternative route on a ferry for commuters to cross the Volta Lake.

This arrangement however, has caused lots of inconveniences to motorists and travelers due to the long hours they have to wait to be transported across the lake.

Myjoyonline.com’s visit to the area last Wednesday saw heavy vehicular traffic near the lake with passengers becoming impatient with operators of the ferry because of the long hours they have to wait.

The situation is even more aggravated as the Easter festivities have set in. Easter Celebration is eminent among the people of the Volta Region.

What is also significant to note is that, even though the delay is an inconvenience to passengers, some are excited to be traveling on the ferry for the first time.

Photographers are busy cashing in by taking pictures of travelers who are using the ferry for the first time.
