Notorious Kumasi Robber Grabbed

GRABBED! Wasiu Ahmed Iddris
WASIU AHMED Iddris, a notorious armed robber in Kumasi, has finally been nabbed by the Ashanti Regional Police Command.

The 23-year-old robber was arrested in the national capital, Accra, and was later handed over to the police in Kumasi.

Wasiu, described by the police as ‘very dangerous,’ had been on the police wanted list for several years.

He is reported to have been involved in a top robbery incident in which his accomplice was arrested and remanded by the court.

Wasiu is also said to be part of a group of deadly armed robbers who have been terrorizing the people of Kumasi for several years now.

The group’s other members include Baba Musah, Killer Bobo, aka ‘Junior,’ Haadi and Dead Body.

They allegedly operate their illegal activities with pump action guns, pistols, sharp knives and other offensive weapons.

DCOP Kofi Boakye, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, said Killer Bobo and Dead Body are already in police grip.

He, however, stated that Haadi and Baba Musah, considered to be the most dangerous in the group, are still at large.

DCOP Boakye declared Baba Musah and Haadi as wanted, and urged the public to feed the police with information which would lead to their arrest.

The Ashanti Regional Police Commander described Wasiu’s arrest as a great feat in the police’s battle against armed robbery in the area.

He said Wasiu’s group robbed people of their valuables such as mobile phones, at gunpoint on the streets.

DCOP Kofi Boakye said the terror robber also terrorized innocent people at Bantama and the Kejetia bus terminal during the night.

According to him, Wasiu fled Kumasi recently to escape arrest when he realized that the police had launched a crusade against robbers in the area.

DCOP Boakye said Wasiu would be arraigned before court soon, adding that they (police) were on the heels of Baba Musah and Haadi.

In a related development, DCOP Kofi Boakye has expressed concern over people’s refusal to patronize police’s identification parade of hoodlums.

He charged the people to always come and identify the hoodlums who had robbed them so they could be prosecuted.
