Berekum Chelsea stunned Hearts of Oak in Berekum

A dominant Berekum Chelsea side posted a 1-0 victory over Hearts of Oak at the Golden City Park in the Ghana Premier League on Wednesday afternoon.

A 11th minute Cristiano Ronaldo-style finish by Bennett Ofori condemned the Phobians to their third straight defeat.

Chelsea trainer Anthony Lokko handed starting berth to former Ghana U17 winger Prince Attakora-Gyimah and the 24-year-old enjoyed a wonderful first-half against his former side.

2013 Ghana CHAN midfielder Owusu Jackson also started for the Blues in a packed Golden City in the Brong Ahafo region.

Mohammed Polo – the Hearts of Oak coach, had no option than to keep Tetteh Luggard in between the sticks while he replaced the suspended Robin Gnagne with Philip Boampong .

Boampong was handed the chance to play his maiden game for the Phobians this season after returning from a season long-loan spell in Saudi Arabia.

Selasi Adjei paired with youngster Maxwell Boakye in attack, a strikeforce which proved minimally successful.

The opening departure entirely belonged to the home side as they hoarded and controlled lion’s share of ball possession.

Chelsea’s midfield quartet; consisting of Obed Owusu, Jackson, Yaw Alexander and Dennis Tetteh proved difficult for the inexperienced Hearts midfield to handle.

The Blues early dominance was highlighted when Jackson Owusu tested the strength of the crossbar with a powerful drive from a free kick. The events leading to the free-kick was even eye-catching.

Beautifully string of passes between Gyimah, Jackson and Alexander put Tetteh in space and was impeded by Boampong. Jackson aimed a fierce drive which rattled the crossbar.

Hearts could hardly settle down after Chelsea continuous barrage of goal-mouth bombardments before Bennett Ofori poked home the lead.

An Attakora-Gyimah cross from the right was met with a one-time drive from the Ofori and Luggard stood no chance to stop it.

Mohammed Polo altered his side after the break but it still took Tetteh Luggard to prevent them from losing by a heavier margin.
