Sweep out NDC gov’t – Jake to new NPP executives

The former chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Jake Obetsebi Lamptey has urged the members of the party to rally behind the new executives to “sweep out” the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.

“The party has chosen new executives and we have to support these new executives for them to be successful because without their success, we have no success.

Let’s talk about the positive things, let’s talk about the new hopes that we have as a party. Let’s help the new executives to sweep the NDC out of the office and the NPP into office,” he emphasized.

Mr. Obetsebi Lamptey who contested with Paul Afoko, Stephen Ntim, Fred Oware in the chairmanship race of the NPP only polled 66 votes with some attributing his defeat to his poor human relations.

But speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show, Mr. Obetsebi Lamptey expressed his surprise at the defeat saying emphatically that “the performance itself is not the issue, it is the result that is obviously surprising. I think perhaps if I had lost my one or two votes that wouldn’t have been more disappointing. But losing a lot of votes, the loss is emphatic.”

He was however quick to add that the reason for his defeat was totally irrelevant saying,“what has happened has already happened and gone.”

In that regard, he stressed the need for the party to surge forward by supporting its new executives.
