Kojo Nunoo, Deputy Managing Director of Kasapreko Company Limited , has expressed concern about the inadequate patronage of locally-manufactured drinks.
According to him, locally-produced drinks need to be promoted to earn substantial revenue for the country.
Mr Nunoo, in an interview with BUSINESS GUIDE said, ‘The tourism centers should stock their bars with locally-made drinks. By so doing they will be helping to promote made in Ghana drinks.
He said, ‘The foreigners need to taste our drinks. Let’s believe in our brands and promote them. That is the only way we can get foreigners to patronize them.
Mr. Nunoo called on government to offer support to local industries to produce to meet market standards.
Touching on the performance of the company’s products on the market, Mr. Nunoo said its flagship product, Alomo Bitters, was in high demand in the country, the sub-region, Europe, America and Canada because of its potency.
‘Alomo Bitters is being enjoyed all over the world. In Nigeria, they have named the bitters ‘African Hennessy.’ This shows how they have accepted the Ghanaian-made alcoholic drink,’ he said.
Mr. Nunoo said Alomo Bitters was awarded a Super Brand in 2012, stating that ‘it has also been identified to be amongst the top 5 emerging brands in the world by CNN Money.’
He said, ‘The Alomo is not just any ordinary alcoholic drink because it is made from carefully selected tropical plant extracts, which forms part of a secret recipe.’
Mr. Nunoo said Kasapreko would continue to provide its customers with the best drinks.
‘The first quarter of 2014 has been very difficult as compared to last year, we know that things will get better,’ he said.
