EPL:Yaya Touré out for the season

Manchester City’s Yaya Touré picked up an injury against Liverpool and the Ivorian midfielder now joins an ever-growing list of players who could miss this summer’s World Cup.

There were fifteen minutes on the clock when Touré felt a twinge in his right knee and had to be replaced on the pitch by Javi García, a move that hampered Manchester City’s midfield creativity.

This is City’s holding midfielder’s third injury of the year, following the back problem he picked up a couple of months ago against Newcastle.

Touré’s injury could not have come at a worse time, not only with Manchester City chasing the Premier League title, but also with barely two months to go until the start of this summer’s World Cup in Brazil.

Manuel Pellegrini confirmed the injury after the game against the Reds. City’s Chilean boss told the press conference that the Ivory Coast international’s season for City is over.

Liverpool beat Manchester City 3-2 in a game that could have settled the Premier League title race. Coutinho’s winner means that the Reds now depend on themselves to win the title, with just four games to go until the end of the campaign.
