NPP Conference: Voting ends; Counting begins


After almost seven hours of a laborious process, voting has ended. Voting started around 4:30 pm and ended at 11:00 pm.

Counting is due to begin in a short while. The police have described the counting process as the most crucial part of the whole process.

All delegates, supporters and persons who have nothing to do with the counting process have been directed  to leave the voting area or risk being thrown own.

The police say only the aspirant or his polling agent will be allowed at the polling area.

The say warn that in ten minutes if such persons fail to move from the polling area, they will have themselves to blame.

“Gentleman it looks like you think we are joking. In seven minutes time we will enforce our directive,” he warned.

He said only journalists, EC officials, police officers are allowed at the voting area.

The EC officials have been asked to bring all ballot boxes to the central polling area for sorting out and counting.

44 candidates are contesting for various national offices of the opposition New Patriotic Party.
