Two persons, William Odoi and Zebulon Anyeteye, were on Friday arraigned at an Accra Circuit Court for conspiracy to commit crime, unlawful entry, causing unlawful damage, and robbery.

The two, were alleged to have robbed Gershon Gbediame, Member of Parliament (MP) for Nkwanta South, at his residence at Lashibi at gunpoint, of his two ipads, six mobile phones, three laptops, a set of jewelries as well as an amount of GH¢5000 and $7500.

They pleaded not guilty to the offences and were remanded by the court to reappear on April 25.

The facts of the case, as presented by the Prosecuting Officer, Chief Superintendent of Police Duuti Tuaruka, were that on January 11, at Community 17, Lashibi within the hours of 0230 hours and 0400 hours, the MP’s house was attacked and robbed by armed robbers.

He said the suspects numbering eight were fully armed with pistols and pump action guns.

The prosecution said on the same day, a report was made to the police by the complainant. One of the phones was a Samsung Galaxy S4 with IMEI number 34713905 1345100 and has an anti-theft software embedded in it.

He told the court that the anti-theft was activated and the IMEI number generated a cell phone number 0240952807 as the number which has started using the phone on the same day by 0500 hours.

Chief Superintendent Tuaruka said the cell phone number was traced to Zebulon, located around La-Agyemang.

Through frantic efforts Zebulon was arrested on February 15 and the said phone was retrieved from him.

Upon interrogation, he mentioned William, his cousin as the one who sold the said phone to him at an amount of GHc 800.00 out of which he paid GHc 500.00.

The prosecution said William was immediately arrested at first junction, Melcom and upon interrogation, he also mentioned one Pennin now at large as the one who gave him the phone to be sold.

Chief Superintendent Tuaruka said Williams’s house was searched and the original housing of the said phone was retrieved from his room.

William led the police to the hide out of the said Pennin and his friends at La- Agyemang, which turned out to be a Ghetto where heavy smoking of Indian hemp goes on.
