Two arrested for Tamale shooting

Police in Tamale have arrested two suspects in-connection with the recent shoooting incident at Zogbeli where nine supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) suffered gunshot wounds.

Unknown gunmen opened fire into a crowd of NPP supporters who were entertaining themselves at a night jam organized on Thursday night as part of activities marking the mammoth delegates conference.

Contrbuting to Citi FM‘s special edition of The Big Issue at the Tamale Sports Stadium, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh, Northern regional Police Officer exclusively told Citi News two persons have been apprehended.

He reassured all attending the delegates conference of maximum security and warned that the police will not spare miscreants.

According to him adequate police personnel have have been dotted all over the Tamale metropolis coupled with maximum security patrols within and outside the metropolis.

ASP Ebenezer Tetteh further said the police will form a human chain during and after the voting exercise to ensure a free, fair and transparent polls.

He condemned the shooting incident that occurred on Thursday but built confidence in the general public assured the general public that nothing untoward will happen.

‘’Investigations are ongoing; we are advising the people to volunteer information for the arrest of the miscreants who were involved in the shooting incident that lead to the injury of some nine persons,’’ he added.

He cautioned everybody to stay off, ‘’anybody who tries to test the pulse of the police, will be dealt with’’.
