Asante Kotoko have been banned from playing at the Baba Yara Stadium for the rest of the season after their fans beat up referee ER Biney in their defeat to Heart of Lions last month.
This means the Ghana Premier League derby II clash against rivals Hearts of Oak on 11 May will be played on a neutral ground.
Kotoko have three home matches-against Inter Allies, Wa All Stars and Hearts of Oak- left to play.
The decision, taken by the Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association, was announced on Thursday.
This follows incidents of missile throwing onto the field of play after the final whistle of Kotoko’s First Capital Plus Premier League match with Heart of Lions on March 26, 2014.
‘The decision is in accordance with Article 15 (2) of the GFA regulations which states that the GFA may order the closure of any league where it is satisfied that the safety of match officials, spectators and players cannot be guaranteed,’ a GFA statement said.
The Disciplinary Committee had been directed to hear the case in accordance with the Regulations of the Association.
