Five persons allegedly hired by the Leader of the New Vision Party, Prophet Daniel Nkansah, to attack a shop owner have appeared before the Accra Circuit Court.
The accused were among nine people captured on a close circuit television (CCTV) on the premises of the company wielding machetes and other offensive weapons.
They were identified two months after they had committed the alleged offence.
The accused persons — Daniel Boahene Nkansah Jnr, 25; Joseph Tetteh, 27; James Quansah Afful, 40, Otokunor Sackey, 44, and Emmanuel Salami Azumah, 43 — are alleged to have assaulted the Chief Executive Officer of Canis Majoris Company Limited, Mr Stephen Ped Andam, in his shop at Atico in Accra.

Four others, including Prophet Nkansah, are at large.
The court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Prophet Nkansah, who failed to honour a court summons.
The court, presided over by Mr Francis Obiri, heard that the accused persons robbed the company’s CEO of his Samsung S4 phone and international driving licence.
They also looted items, including a Sonny video camera, GH¢55,000 cash, a Dell laptop and its charger, a Blackberry Q10 mobile phone, Samsung mobile phones, cheque books, certificates and an Ipad air 32 GB.
The prosecutor of the case, Chief Inspector Edward Afful, told the court that on February 1, 2014, Mr Nkansah and his son, Daniel Nkansah, brought the alleged thugs in a pick-up vehicle, armed with machetes and other weapons, and ordered them to attack the shop owner and his workers. Confrontation
The incident, he said, happened after the CEO of the company, who was a tenant in Prophet Nkansah’s shop which he had rented for GH¢11,680 for a 10-year period, asked that a shop which he had paid for be made available to him.
The New Vision Party leader was apparently occupying the shop, although he had rented it out three months earlier to the CEO of Canis Majoris to be used for the company’s operations.
The prosecutor said when Mr Andam asked his landlord to vacate the shop, it resulted in an exchange of words.

The case was reported to the Odorkor Police and, during investigations, the Sonny camera was retrieved from Prophet Nkansah’s son.
He was arrested, while four others were identified two months later as a result of the CCTV’s capture.
They were charged with six counts, including conspiring to commit crime, assault and robbery.
The others, whose names were given only as Mensah, Adjei and Arnold, are being pursued by the police.
