9 Supporters Of Nana Addo Allegedly Shot In Tamale


About 9 supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) youth wing Friends of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo were allegedly shot this dawn in Abuabu, a suburb of Tamale.

The incident occurred during an entertainment show jam organised by the group to officially welcome Nana Addo to Tamale after taking him to his place of stay for the NPP Congress.

Taken by surprise, an unknown Taxi with no registration number appeared from nowhere and opened fire from the moving taxi indiscriminately into the crowed while they were having fun at the night jam near the West Hospital.

The victims were taken to the Tamale West Hospital and later transferred to the Tamale Teaching Hospital. One out of the 9 is in reported to be in a critical condition.

This reporter checks also indicate that, those who were shot and severely injured are known fire brand political activists of the two-time flagbearer Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who arrived in Tamale Thursday afternoon.

Reports further suggest that two out of the nine victims are members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), who came from Nyankpala to have fun at the Jam.

Tomorrow’s NPP Congress has witnessed widespread verbal attacks on some contestants by their fellow contenders especially race for the Chairmanship and General Secretary and the Women Organiser, positions.

Police at the Northern regional command is investigating the shooting and no arrests have been made yet.

There is high tension in the area but the police have assured maximum security with the number of police men deplored to the area.
