Security has tightened in Tamale ahead of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Saturday’s mammoth National Delegates Conference.
About seven temporary police duty posts have been established at some vantage points in the Tamale metropolis with one expected to be mounted within the Tamale ultra modern stadium where the main event would be held.
The Northern regional police command has hinted that a complete theatre would be established near the Tamale Sports Stadium to cater for the health needs of delegates and other guests.
Also a team of medical Doctors from the police headquarters will arrive in Tamale on Thursday April 10 to provide free medical service
Northern regional police Commander, DCOP Ken Yeboah told Citi News additional police personnel from the Brong Ahafo, Greater Accra and Upper East regions have already in Tamale to augment secuirty arrangements on the ground.
He warned that only accredited people would be allowed entry into the Tamale Sports stadium on the congress day.
Meanhile, economic activities have boomed in Tamale as party paraphernalia and smock sellersa are cashing in.
The NPP 2012 Presidential candidate, Nana Akufo Addo and his running mate Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia arrived in Tamale and were ushered into Tamale township by hundreds of NPP supporters and sympathizers.
Nana Addo and his entourage paid courtesy calls on some clery and opinion leaders in Tamale.
Nana Addo would be attending the memorial service of the late Tolon Naa Yakubu in Tolon on Friday April 11.
The late Tolon Naa Yakubu was a founding father of then Northern Peopels Party which metaphorsed into the New Patriotic Party when Ghana returned to civilian rule in 1992.
