Ghana Football Association president Kwesi Nyantakyi has expressed his gratitude to past and present governments for their unflinching support since assuming office.

The astute lawyer was elected head president in 2005 and has chalked successes including qualifying Ghana for three straights World Cup finals.

Under his regime, Ghana became the first African country to win the prestigious FIFA U20 World Cup in Egypt 2009- a record which has not been equaled.

“One of the keys that have helped me in my tenure is the support of government whom I have worked with,” Nyantakyi told Spice FM’s Kuntu Blankson.

“They have been cooperative and very supportive I must say.

“And that has been instrumental in helping us serve the nation better.”

Nyantakyi has also made strides in world football administration after being appointed in FIFA’s Associations Committee.

The affable football administrator is an Executive Committee member of CAF and chairman of the Fair Play and Social Responsibility of the continent’s governing body.

He is also Vice-President of the Media Committee and a member of the Organizing Committee for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Nyantakyi is the President of WAFU Zone B.
