Gabby Endorses Buaben Asamoa

It is the season of endorsements and public declaration of preferred candidates as the NPP nears its National Delegates Conference in Tamale. It appears the key message from all leading members of the Party, who mean well for the Party, has centered on unity of the Party after the necessary internal reorganization are over.

Messages from Akufo-Addo and Alan Kyeremanten have reiterated the need for unity after the internal elections. Indeed two candidates for the position of General Secretary, Yaw Buaben Asamoa and Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, have adopted a unity theme to their campaign. Buaben Asamoa, who retained his 2010 campaign message, says “unity to protect the ballot” and Kwabena Agyepong, the newcomer in the General Secretary race, says, “Together we shall rise again”.

However, the former Executive Director of the Danquah Institute, Mr. Gabby Otchere-Darko, believes that Buaben Asamoa is the UNIFIER of the two candidates.

In a post on his Facebook wall, Mr. Otchere-Darko compared the candidates for General Secretary position and described Buaben Asamoa as follows: “What about YB? He is by far the “harmless”, compromise candidate … you can’t get anything really negative to say about him. He speaks well. Carries himself well. Has executive secretary experience. Has ran before. Everybody will be comfortable if he gets it and he will easiest be a unifying factor.”

Could this be an endorsement of Buaben Asamoa for the Party’s chief scribe position? Certainly. If indeed unity is what the Party needs in order to win the general election in 2016 then Buaben Asamoa is the best person to guide the Party to that logical conclusion. In addition to his unifying attribute, Mr. Otchere-Darko admits that everybody in the Party will be comfortable if Buaben Asamoa gets the nod as General Secretary.

Mr. Otchere-Darko expresses strong confidence in Buaben Asamoa’s executive secretary experience, and he believes Buaben Asamoa will execute the office of General Secretary of the Party competently.

Mr. Buaben Asamoa, who ended his nationwide campaign in Accra a couple of days ago, has pledged to serve the Party diligently and work with all his heart to ensure that the Party is elected in 2016 and is declared as winners.
