Ghanaian-born former France captain Marcel Desailly has tipped the 1998 World Cup winners and Ghana to make a difference in Brazil 2014.

He said the two sides have formidable squads capable of winning the ultimate, but it will take a great deal of team accord, especially for the Ghanaians, to achieve that goal.

Desailly therefore called on the Black Stars coach Kwasi Appiah to strive towards a united setup as he leads the four-time African champions to the global football fiesta.

‘For me the World Cup always brings me good memories,’ the 1998 World Cup winner told Le Parisien .

‘And this year promises to be another package. I will obviously be rooting for France and Ghana and I feel they both have good chances.’

He added: ‘Ghana will need unity and the sense of togetherness which saw them do well in the previous editions. When you get to a stage like the World Cup you hardly require any motivation. You just need to keep a calm head and the coach has to ensure players feel as one. For me that is the key to success in big competitions.’

Ghana will start their campaign with the USA before Germany then seal off the Group G bout with Portugal.
