Arsenal are set to bid for Schalke midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng next Summer, allsports.com.gh can confirm.
A respected club source has revealed that Arsene Wenger is considering replacing Mikel Arteta with the Ghanaian International after some disappointing performances from the Spaniard in recent times.
Boateng only signed for Schalke this season after leaving previous club AC Milan, but could be on the move again if Arsenal make a good enough offer to lure him to the Emirates Stadium.
The 27-year-old would likely cost around £15million after a strong season in the Bundesliga, and is not the only Schalke player to be targeted by Wenger in recent times, with star youngster Julian Draxler also possibly still on the Frenchman’s radar.
Boateng’s versatility makes him appealing, and it could be that he is also used to fill in out wide when needed to, with Arsenal somewhat lacking a direct alternative to the injury-prone Theo Walcott in that area.
Boateng has plied his trade in England before, of course, lining up for Arsenal’s fierce local rivals Tottenham Hotspur, as well as Portsmouth later on, with whom he reached the FA Cup final in 2009/10.
