NIB Supports Ghana Navy

National Investment Bank (NIB) Limited has presented a cheque for GH¢150,000.00 to the Ghana Navy.

The donation was to aid the completion of an office for staff of the Navy Headquarters.

Martin Amenyedzi, Executive Head of the NIB’s Banking Operations, presented the cheque at a brief ceremony held at the Naval Headquarters in Accra recently.

He said the bank responded to the appeal because of the close relationship between the tow entities over the years.

He stated that the Bank was prepared to support the Ghana Navy to enhance the morale and well-being of the troops.

The Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Geoffrey Mawuli Biekro, who received the cheque on behalf of the Ghana Navy, stated that the Naval Headquarters office was a pre-independence structure, which could no longer support the increasing number of staff and modern infrastructure required for their work.

Phase one of the project was completed in 2000, but could barely accommodate a third of staff at the Naval Headquarters.

Rear Admiral Biekro thanked the bank for the speedy response to the request.
