Heart of Lions Chief Randy Abbey Denies Influencing Referees

Heart of Lions president Randy Abbey has ridiculed suggestions he influences referees in the Ghanaian top-flight following his side’s amazing run this season.

Lions have seen their stock risen this term with an enviable performance that has catapulted them to the second position on the League table.

The Kpando-based side managed a 2-1 win at Hearts of Oak on Sunday, to leapfrog the Accra side on second position in the process.

However, some fans have pointed accusing fingers at the former boss of the Referees appointment committee of paying bribes to aid his side.

But he has flatly denied the allegations and entreated people to applaud them for their impressive run.

“I don’t pay bribe to match referees to win our games. That is not what we do at Lions. Our focus is to play well in the games which we have been rewarded with, with good results,” he said

“Whoever says Lions pay bribe to win our games should only be doing that based on rumours because it carries no iota of truth.

We are a team to reckon with which must be accepted by all and not spread falsehood about us”.

Lions are now in with a real chance of securing Champions League qualification with six games to end the campaign.
