Muntaka Refutes Minority’s Claims Of Majority Tyranny

Majority Chief Whip in Parliament, Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, has vehemently disputed claims by the minority caucus alleging that the leadership of the House is sidelining them.

The Minority Leader in parliament, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, expressed displeasure about the consistent attempt by the Majority members to hide activities in Parliament from him and the Minority.

According to him, the Majority was bent on rendering the Minority members ‘useless‘ in Parliament.

But responding to the allegations on Citie FM, Alhaji Muntaka, MP for Asawase, said the Minority’s claims of sidelining is false.

He admonished the Minority not to mislead and misinform the general public.

“I want them to cite specific example that we take decisions or discuss issues in the House without consulting them, “he said.

Alhaji Muntaka said the Majority would never take decision without prior communication to him (Minority Leader, Osei Kyei Mensah) as required by Parliament.

Mr. Mensah Bonsu cited last Tuesday’s appearance of the Finance Minister in Parliament as an example, saying leadership did not give him prior notice.

The Majority Chief Whip, however, said “On Monday, we were in the conference room and it was stated that the Finance Minister was in this House to make a statement. I am surprised that he is saying this.”

He stated that the Minority cannot, by their theatrics, hold govern.
