Radio presenter and media consultant Fiifi Banson has  called on owners of various media houses in the Ghanaian sports fraternity to make a conscious effort to invest in equipment.

The Chief Executive Officer of  F and B Consult also called for more training to upgrade the skills of practitioners’ resource.

According to him the use of crude equipment coupled with the poor knowledge of  effective communication projects a poor image of the sports community internationally.

“Sometimes i tune to radio commentary and for the first ten minutes i cant even tell which team is playing from where to where,we need to correct some of these things otherwise when we go to compete on the international level they look at us and laugh,” he said.

“I’m appealing to radio station owners especially the local ones they should invest a bit more in equipment and also a bit more into training the personnel they hire,” he told Citi Sports.

Banson was speaking at the launch of the Ghana Sports Journalists Awards Launch in Accra. The event  which comes on in December will see sports journalists in the country awarded in various categories including most promising sports journalist of the year and most popular sports program of the year for both television and radio.
