Two robbers jailed 60 years

arrestThe Tema Circuit Court ‘A’, presided over by Lydia Osei-Marfo, has sentenced two armed robbers to 30 years imprisonment each for robbing clients of some banks in Tema.

31-year-old Mohammed Ahmed, an auto mechanic and 23-year-old Emmanuel Ahiagbedzi,  who returned to Ghana a week ago from Libya, were sentenced on their own plea of guilty to two charges of conspiracy to commit crime and robbery.

The Tema Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Olivia Turkson told the GNA that the convicts robbed some customers of Ecobank and Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) who had cashed monies from the bank.

She indicated that when information reached her outfit of the activities of the suspected robbers, the Community Two patrol team, pursued the criminals who were using an unregistered motorbike.

She said the two fell from their bike when the police driver hit the motorbike with the patrol car.

A search conducted on them revealed a pistol, a Nokia mobile phone,cash amount of GHC 2,605 and a talisman in a lady’s bag.
