HFC bank sued for detaining customer

HfcA customer of HFC Bank is suing the bank for $ 300,000 for unlawful detention and verbal assault.

The customer, known as Sebastian was alleged to have stolen a mobile phone while transacting business at the bank and was therefore embarrassed.

Lawyer for the ‘culprit,Francis Xavier Sosu  in an interview with Citi News said his client was falsely accused by the bank for stealing a mobile phone.

“The customer went to HFC bank and a day after his transaction he was called that there was a missing mobile phone and he was the one who stole it,’’ he said.

According to Mr. Xavier Sosu, after observation of the CCTV camera, it turned out that it was a pen that he took from the customer service [desk] to fill out his form in other to deposit some money.

He explained that his client is seeking a remedy that “the act of the officers of the bank breached the relationship between the customer and the bank…as well as an order that there was a verbal abuse which amounted to a defamation of character.’’
