Black Stars Players Feel Disappointed – Yaw Boaten Gyan

Member of the Ghana Black Stars Management committee, Yaw Boateng Gyan has revealed that some of the Black Star players are dissatisfied with the current media debates surrounding the preparations of the national team ahead of their participation in the FIFA World Cup this year.

The NDC National Youth Organiser stated that the ongoing budget discussions, wives and girlfriends debate and other ‘irrelevant’ developments in the media regarding the team is really eating into the heads of some of the players and is adversely affecting the psyche for the Mundial.

Gyan told Sunyani-based Storm FM “All these budget debates on the radio and on TV is not relevant because the government has come out to officially state their position on the budget and has approved a sum for the national team and so I would advise that we all wait for the team to go to Brazil and complete with the tournament and then come back to account for whatever was given them”.

“It is quiet baffling to me because you don’t hear all these fuss when the other ministries submit their budget so why must it start with the Black Stars?, He quizzed.

“Some people are even saying we are going to buy fufuo, pestle and mortar and some of these comments have discouraged the players and they have really been affected”.

“I personally spoke to some of the players and they were so much disappointed with the debates going on and they feel worried as to why Ghanaians have suddenly gotten so much interested in what the players will eat, what they will drink and how they will sleep, and it really seemed to have negatively affected them psychologically”.

Ex-Ghana FA chief Ben Koufie has also asserted that the recent negative discussions in the Ghanaian media on the Black Stars could destroy the chances of the national team at the World Cup in Brazil in June.
