SDA Pastor Drowns

Residents in Elubo District of the Western Region on Saturday March 29, 2014 were thrown into a state of shock and anxiety about the mysterious death of the District Pastor of the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) church in the area, Pastor H. S. Obeng who was found dead in River Bawiaa near Nvelenu.

The Kikam District Pastor, Pastor Nana Nimako who disclosed this in an interview with Today said the deceased was found dead in his car in a river along the Aiyinase-Samenye road where his car was involved in an accident.

According to him, the deceased was traveling to a meeting in Takoradi last Friday but never got there and “nobody heard anything about him till last Sunday when we received the news that he had drown in River Bawiaa near Nvelenu.”

“He was in his private vehicle which veered off the road into the river and looking at the way the body had been decomposed in the river for three days, we had no choice but to bury him,” he noted.

But an eyewitness told the paper that the late Pastor Obeng might have been killed by highway robbers who could have possibly pushed the car into the river after their attack.

The eyewitness continued that he was found dead in his car with his neck broken and his legs protruding out of the door of the vehicle.

They asserted that road accidents which normally land victims into rivers have been rampant on the Axim-Samenye road with previous cases being Azuleloanu and Bobrama, all communities along the route.

Pastor Nana Nimako however told Today, the death of the man of God has saddened the entire congregants in the Western region and the Elubo District where he pastored.
