Former Ghana skipper Stephen Appiah is worried that the United States of America’s quest for revenge against the Black Stars would make them dangerous opponents at the World Cup.

Ghana had beaten the Americans at the 2006 and 2010 World Cups and Appiah believes they will go all out to prevent a third straight loss when both meet in their opening group game in Brazil.

“It is going to be difficult because beating them on two occasions it is never going to be easy,” Appiah told Goal.com.

The US are believed to be the weakest team in the group which also includes Germany and Portugal. Appiah says he would rather have met the Americans in their second or third game when they would have probably lost to either of the European heavyweights and lost some morale.

“But here is the case they are playing us first and that will be difficult and definitely they are coming for revenge,” the former Juventus star observed.

He also warned that Portugal had a team that was bigger than their famous skipper Cristiano Ronaldo, but nonetheless highlighted the threat posed by the Real Madrid star who is the reigning world player of the year.

“There is a guy (Ronaldo) who has overshadowed all the players but they have a good team and nobody is talking about the other players,” Appiah noted.

“He is making the difference anyway and I think you watched the game against Sweden and you saw what he did so that tells it all.”

Ghana face the Germans in their second game, before a group finale with the Portuguese.
