The highest nominated artiste for the upcoming 2014 VGMA’s, GURU famous for his hit singles such as Lapaz Toyota, Nkwadaa, Ma Bre Wo, Akayida (Boys Abre), and his latest Amen;…

partners the SOS-Hermann Gmeiner International College’s Traditional Annual Community outreach fundraiser and climaxes the event with a sensational amazing mind blowing performance as the youth artiste ambassador and collaborating artiste and brand of the event.

The SOS-Hermann Gmeiner International College fundraiser is a traditional annual event. Each year, the first year International Baccalaureate (IB1) class of SOS-Hermann Gmeiner International College organizes a fund-raising activity in support of the school’s community service projects. SOS believes that this provides opportunities for students to give back to their community through service, develop their team skills and become caring, reflective young adults.

Partnering SOS, GURU gave his full support as an artiste who believes in empowering the youth of today’s Ghana with positive tools to enable them impact their communities, the nation, Africa and the world at large.

GURU’s collaboration is steered from his desire to be not only a role model and mentor but a tool of change in the lives of people especially the less privileged.

Thus this year’s SOS Community Service and Fundraising Project, NOVA, themed “Improving the Quality of Education in Schools for the Disadvantaged”, drove GURU with passion in partnership with this heartfelt social course and responsibility of raising funds for the Mampong School for the Deaf and the Akropong School for the Blind.

On Saturday March 22, 2014, a Carnival, the climax of the fundraiser activity was held at the academic campus of the SOS in Community 6, Tema.

Exciting activities included a Masquerade fashion show, movies, face-painting, haunted house, finger-licking foods and chilled drinks, exciting jams, sponge the principal, a cozy adult lounge, the ever exciting raffle draw with many prizes won and not forgetting a mind blowing performance by GURU who throw his weight behind the fundraiser as part of his social responsibility.

The crowd went wild with every single hit he performed; getting them screaming, dancing and literally going crazy in frenzy. It was one performance many would carry with them for a long time to come. It is not a wonder therefore that he has 8 nominations to his credit at this year’s VGMA’s.
