I Will Never Officiate In Kotoko Matches Again – Referee E.R Biney

Ghana top flight referee E.R Biney says he will never honour a duty call to officiate in matches involving Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara stadium if the Ghana Referees Appointment committee selects him for such fixture.

Referee Biney needed heavy police escort to escape the wrath of charged Kotoko fans to leave the Baba Yara Stadium.

The Kotoko fans claim they were robbed off a victory in their own backyard with an awarded penalty to Hearts of Lions which eventually won the game for the visitors.

Referee Biney even alleged that some top Kotoko officials including team manger Godwin Ablodey and Ali Maradona incited the enraged crowd at the stadium to attack him and his assistants after the match on Wednesday.

Biney told Angel FM “The kind of heavy slaps I received after the game, its only God that has been gracious to me that I made it to the office today”,

“This is not the way they should be honouring referees and me I will never officiate in matches in Kumasi”.

“Even if I took a decision that you were not happy with then you have so many channels to express your grievances because there is the review committee and the match was even live on television”.

They pushed us into the tunnel and started beating us with one fans hitting my left arm with a metal causing me some bruises”.

“I will blame (Godwin) Ablodey because he was inciting the players and fans during and after the game whiles Ali Maradona was also there in the tunnel”.
