Mahama Gives Akufo-Addo’s Kyebi Water

President John Mahama, will today be in the maternal hometown of his political archrival, Nana Akufo-Addo, Kyebi to inaugurate a newly completed water treatment plant for the people of the area.

The event forms part of the President’s two-day working visit to the Eastern Region.

Nana Addo’s mother, Adeline Sylvia Eugenia Ama Yeboakua Akufo-Addo Nee Ofori-Atta, was born to Nana Ofori-Atta I, Omanhene of Akyem-Abuakwa and Madam Agnes Akosua Dodua of Okyeame Boafo Oyoko family of Abomosu.

Kyebi, on three occasions sent Akufo-Addo to Parliament. It is a respected town in the country with prominent individuals serving at various fields of national and private endeavours, but little development has been seen in the area.
Even schools are in a very dilapidated state.

Poverty is still rife in the area, and recently many people have taken to illegal mining popularly called “Galamsay” to make ends meet.

Today; the final day of his two-day visit, the President will spend a greater portion of his activities in the Afram Plains area, where he is scheduled to inspect projects and inaugurate a new maternity ward for the Donkorkrom Presbyterian Hospital.
