The ‘Daily Post’ has discovered that another reason why Suwaiba Abdul Mumin and her family are confident that their missing baby boy who some midwives at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) claim was born dead is alive is the history of babies declared dead at that hospital over the years only to be discovered alive later on by their families.
Interestingly, one of such families who experienced this ordeal at the hands of some unscrupulous midwives and nurses at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital are friends to Suwaiba’s family.
Briefing the ‘Daily Post’, an Uncle of the family said sometime in 1990, one Madam Ayi of Aboabo, whose husband was known as Musa delivered a set of twins at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH). However, Madam Ayi was told that one of the twins, the male, died later on. Therefore, when her husband turned up for the children, he was given the corpse of a baby boy ostensibly the dead twin and then the other twin, a female, who was alive.
Just before burial later that day, Madam Ayi pleaded that she be allowed to set eyes on her dead baby boy before he is buried.
When her wish was granted, she discovered to her horror that the baby about to be buried was not the one she gave birth to. She raised the alarm which saw her husband and his friends immediately sprinting to the hospital in fury.
Seeing how charged the irate parent and his friends were, the midwives at the KATH rushed indoors and soon came out with the real baby boy of Madam Ayi. He was alive! The father and his friends thus went home joyous without bordering to report the matter to the police or the authorities.
The twins, Alhassan and Fuseina are now 24 years old.
