The Parents Teachers Association (PTA) of the Mankessim Secondary Technical School at Mfantseman Municipality in the Central Region over the weekend commissioned new dormitory and ironing blocks for the school, as part of efforts to improving its educational infrastructure.

The  GH¢ 110, 000 projects was started in July last year by the PTA and the girls’ dormitory block is expected to accommodate about 100 students.

Apart from those two main projects, the PTA had provided the school with a first class Information Communication Technology (ICT) laboratory, projectors, dining hall, fuel for the running of the school generator when power from the main grid goes out, and other equipment for the efficient running of the school.

Commissioning the two main facilities, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Mr Aquinas Tawiah Quansah, commended the PTA for helping to boost the educational facilities of the school.

‘Government alone cannot improve on the educational sector of the country, so everybody should get on board as well,’ Mr Quansah stated.

The Board Chairman of the school, Mr K.K Essuman, emphasized the need for parents to contribute their quota towards improving on the learning facilities of the school to enable their children to achieve their aim.

He advised the students to take their studies seriously to become responsible people in future.

‘The support by CAMFED has helped us to admit more female students into the school and so there is the need for us to put a roof over their heads so that they can study in peace,’ he revealed.

The out-going Head master of the school, Mr Kweku Atta, charged the staff to work hard to produce better students the for country who would grow up to take up leadership positions.
