As part of this year’s World Water Day celebration, workers of the Ghana Water Company Limited in Sunyani, the Community Water and Sanitation Agency, Water Resources Commission and the Ladies Association of the Ghana Water Company have planted 500 species of Acacia seedlings on the banks of River Tano at the Abesim Water Headworks.
The team was led by the Regional Chief Manager of the Ghana Water Company Limited, Joseph Adasah Nkrumah.
He said the tree-planting exercise was aimed at protecting the catchment area of River Tano.
As part of the programme for the celebration, there would be radio talk shows, educational trips to the Abesim Headworks by various senior high schools, the Nursing Training School at Tanoso and the Techiman Municipal Assembly, to ascertain how the water was being treated for consumption.
