The Accra Arts Festival (CAAF) will on Wednesday, March 26 present a Night of Northern Music, Dance and Fashion at the Alliance Française in Accra.
The programme, which forms part of the March 2014 edition of La Paillote Takpekpe, would feature Tamale Youth Home Cultural Group, Wuza Wuza, Dance Ensemble and works by number of designers.
Led by Abdul Rahaman Mohammed, Tamale Youth Home Group is set to showcase a number of traditional music and dance pieces from Northern Ghana that have been inflected with their own creative pieces as they showcase the rich and diverse culture from the North.
The group has in recent years performed in various cities in Denmark and organised several workshops for music and dance teachers as well as performing artistes from Europe and the United States.
Wuza Wuza Dance Ensemble would perform a number of creative dance pieces choreographed by Yahuza Alhassan. The pieces, which have been fused with elements of Northern traditional dances, are highly descriptive and extremely suggestive.
Designs by Allan David, Nat Nunoo and Comfort Zone that were created with traditional fabrics from Northern Ghana would be showcased on stage by models from a variety of agencies.
DANIDA, Ghana Denmark Cultural Fund, Danish Embassy in Accra, Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Alliance Française, Goethe-Institut and the British Council are supporting CAAF 2014, which is being organised by the Institute for Music and Development.
