Mayor Pursues Health & Education Transformation Agenda

The Mayor of Accra, Dr. Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije has continued in earnest, the massive developmental projects he is undertaken to ensure that the dream of making Accra the Millennium City is achieved.

Within the past two weeks, the Mayor has undertaken some significant steps to make accessible health care delivery and provision of quality education as two sectors major priorities on the Assembly’s agenda.

To ensure that this vision is achieved, the Mayor has adopted the Mamprobi Polyclinic in Accra as one of the many clinics and health facilities he would be devoting time and resources to ensure that facilities there are improved for the better.

As part of his commitment, the Assembly this Monday donated an ambulance to the Clinic to help establish an ambulance Unit as well as a generator as a back-up whenever there is power failure.

According to the Mayor, the Assembly attaches great importance to the needs of the Mamprobi Polyclinic, hence the decision to help upgrade it.

The Mayor did not lose sight of the fact that the Assembly as an arm of government, the Assembly is commitment to fulfilling its promises on health, and as such it will not be found wanting in ensuring that the Better Ghana Agenda is fulfilled.

Speaking in interview with The Moment after the donation, the Mayor pointed out that the Assembly will be ready to receive any form of appeals from the clinic and staff in the discharge of their duties.

In a similar development, the Mayor has revealed that the Assembly will soon cut a sod for the construction of the 100th Millennium City Schools in Accra.

He made this revelation when he toured the China-Aided New Century Career Training Institute Expansion project.

The project which is sponsored by the Chinese government will serve as a community cluster of schools for the people of Dansoman-Sahara to gain access to primary, Junior High and Vocational training.

When completed, the project will accommodate eight hundred pupils and will have other facilities such as Computer laboratory, Library, Science Laboratory, conference hall, offices and washrooms.

“In the near future, we are looking forward to completing these ones for the community and when these are done, it will become an educational complex in the sense that students can come from elementary through Junior High and get into Vocational Training,” he assured.

The China-Aided New Century Career Training Institute Expansion project is expected to be completed by June 1015.
