Let’s Rise To Overcome Challenges – Fiifi Kwetey

The Minister of State in charge of Financial and Allied Institutions, Mr Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey, has urged Ghanaians to put aside any form of political affiliations and rise to overcome the challenges facing the country.

According to him, “if Ghanaians can put aside any form of political affiliations and rise to the challenge, it will hasten the economic growth of the country.”

He, therefore, called on Ghanaians to contribute their quota towards the development of the country.

Mr Kwetey was speaking at the 10th anniversary and induction ceremony of the Tertiary Education Institutional Network of the National Democratic Congress (TEIN-NDC) chapter of the University of Ghana Accra City Campus.

He indicated that Ghana is a nation that had not performed to the level it was supposed to.

He said that was not an indictment on any political party, but rather an indictment on everybody.

In his view, Ghana had promise and “every one of us must rededicate ourselves to making our nation great and strong.”

Mr Kwetey said it was imperative for Ghanaians to come together and help solve the problems facing the nation.
Advice to parties

He advised political parties vying for political power to avoid “throwing dust into the eyes of the electorates” by making false promises to them.

According to the minister, such behaviour undermines the development of the country and endangered the future of the younger generation.

“Tell the people the truth. I believe that they are intelligent enough to know who’s telling a lie and who’s telling the truth. I know that a time is coming soon when the people of Ghana would not know the difference between the liars and the truth tellers anymore,” he warned.

In an interview, the President of TEIN-NDC, Mr Bright Gidisu, said the essence of the establishment of the organisation was to inculcate in the student body the principles of probity, transparency and accountability.

He explained that the association had the core mandate to facilitate the operations of the NDC on campus and beyond with the aim of winning the 2016 general election.

“In the 2012 general election, TEIN deployed over 100 members who took active part in house-to-house and door-to-door campaign within the constituency, some of our members’ sleeping places were the constituency office, polling centres, among others,” he noted.
