Nana Addo’s Thank You Tour Meant To Gain Undue Advantage Over Flagbearer Hopefuls

2012 Presidential Candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akufo Addo’s recent Thank You Tour to the Ashanti Region has incurred the displeasure of a member of the Government’s Communication Team.

Nana Addo, who arrived in Ghana last week after a six month stay in the United Kingdom, paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene at the Manhyia Palace to express gratitude to the occupant of the Golden Stool for the role of Ashanti in the formation of the Danquah-Busia-Dombo Tradition.

But the NDC Communicator considers the tour as unnecessary since it sought to gain him an undue advantage over the other flagbearer aspirants.

Bernard Anim Piesie insists Nana Addo’s decision to go to court following his defeat in the 2012 elections was not to overturn the Electoral Commission (EC’s) verdict but primarily to gain popularity for his Presidential ambition in the next elections.

“What Nana Addo did in Kumasi was just unnecessary if he wanted popularity; because the petition has already made him so. The petition was meant to make him popular and not to overturn the verdict. To me, if we will be fair, Nana is taking undue advantage over the other flagbearer aspirants and I don’t think it is fair to the other hopefuls

“…..this is the style Nana Addo always adopts and I am not sure this will help because as it stands now, Nana Addo has no locus in NPP because he is still not the Flagbearer of the party; unless he wants to project himself in his capacity to win the heart of the delegates to vote for him,” he said.
