Wa Police arrest man for clubbing wife to death

A 53-year-old man has been arrested by the Wa Police for clubbing his wife to death at Kanto, near Wichiaw in the Wa West District, on suspicion of infidelity.

According to the Wa Municipal Police Commander, DSP Stephen Tetteh, the suspect, Dari Nebeyir, a farmer, became enraged when his wife, Madam Sabo Chiichaa, returned from the Wichiaw market at 8 p.m. on March 10, 2014.

DSP Tetteh said without much provocation, Nebeyir hit the neck and the chest of the 38-year-old petty trader with a cudgel, which led to her instant death.

He said Nebeyir was in police custody pending further investigations and added that the body of sabo  had been released to the family for burial after an autopsy had been carried out.

The couple had been married for 13 years and had five children. The oldest is aged 12 and the youngest two.
