I’ve Always Not Been In Favour of Nana Addo Becoming Prez

Mr. Amakye Boateng, a Lecturer at the Political Science Department of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has revealed that he has always not been in favor of Nana Akufo-Addo candidature for the presidency.

“…me personally, I am one person who is not in favour of Nana Addo’s candidature, or even to become the president of Ghana. I believe everyone has shortcomings and Nana Addo has a challenge selling himself to Ghanaians,” he disclosed on ‘Me Man Nti’, on NEAT 100.9 FM.

For this reason, Mr. Amakye believes that the appeal by the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, is a brave one due to the fact that Nana Addo’s difficulties would not automatically mean “they (NPP) can’t make it with him”.

However, he opined that this is the time for organizational and institutional renewal in the party by introducing new leaders who would bring along a new generation to carry the party along and make it attractive to the youth.

According to the Political Science Lecturer, relevant questions need to be asked of the people who are pushing for Nana Addo to contest for the flagbearership position of the NPP, unopposed and only after party members have satisfied themselves with the answers, can they agree to this proposal.

“…I don’t know about his health but am asking a question, is he healthy enough, giving the fact that he would be beyond 70 years at the time of voting? Is he healthy enough? Is he able to sit for one or two hours reading relevant documents? A president of a country is a big challenge so I will not want the person to just go and while away time in that office.

“So first and foremost, Nana Addo must be very sincere with himself and to the people of Ghana before telling us whatever he has on Thursday,” he opined.
