St James Catholic Church acquires new church house

The Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, Most Reverend Gabriel Charles Palmer-Buckle, has stressed the need for Christians to improve their relationship with God through constant praying, fasting and confirmation of their faith.

“It may be challenging to go through all this but at the end of the day, we will be guaranteed of an eternal life with Christ,” he said.

According to him, fasting has been proven to help an individual to gain self-control, both physically and spiritually.

He added that it was necessary for Christians to cultivate the habit of giving to help the needy, abstaining from unworthy lifestyles and being obedient to God.

Reverend Palmer-Buckle made these remarks when he spoke at the inauguration of a three-storey church house for the St James Catholic Church at Osu, yesterday.

The Archbishop commended the members for their support towards the project and urged them to do more to make every project a success.

The Chairman of the Project Committee, Mr Anthony Ababio, said the church house, valued at GH¢1,456,265, consisted of a priest’s residence and two large halls for church meetings and offices.

He said the project, which started two years ago, would serve as the Lord’s vineyard for people who worshipped at the parish.

“The project is a contribution from all, through the good work and hard work of our members and this was made possible under the supervision of the leaders,” he said.
