Missing Girl Found Dead

THE BODY of a 12-year-old girl identified as Emelia Ednam Adjie, a primary three pupil of Shammah Modern School Complex has been found at the shores of Djange lagoon at Great Ningo in the Ningo-Prampram District of the Greater Accra Region.

Emelia was said to have gone missing after returning from school last Thursday until she was found dead at the shore with injuries on her mouth and eyebrow.

Her corpse has been deposited at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital morgue in Accra awaiting autopsy while police investigate the case.

The Prampram District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Paul Mensah Bampoe who confirmed the incident to DAILY GUIDE mentioned that the girl was found with sores, and therefore suspected murder.

According to him, although investigations were ongoing to ascertain the cause of death, the public should furnish the police with information that would assist them in their investigation.

Moses Adjie, uncle of the deceased, told DAILY GUIDE that Emelia returned from school that a day at about 4:00 pm and went out to play with some of her friends in the area.

He said in the evening when she did not return home to eat supper, a search mounted for her but it proved futile. A report was then made to the Prampram District Police Headquarters.

Adjie said Emelia was found dead the subsequent day around the shores of the Djange lagoon with the aforementioned injuries and suspected foul play. He, as a result, wanted the police to investigate the matter to bring the perpetrator(s) of the unlawful act to book.

Speculation going round the entire township indicated that poor Emelia might have been murdered and dumped at the shore.
